Rita and Dougie Go To Hollywood! (Work In Progress)

Billy Elliot meets An Evening with Michael Bublé in this clown-cabaret-kitchen sink drama.

Rita is an ageing, washed up club singer from Manchester with a chip on her shoulder and a Marlboro Light in her hand. Wee Dougie, a Glaswegian boy with a dream, is Rita’s latest singing student. And, spoiler alert! He is also in love with her. After many years of failure, Rita is determined to make Dougie a star!

Capitalism, the sell by date of women and being working class in the arts are just a few of the obstacles these two dreamers face on the road to La La Land, but armed with show tunes and delusion, Rita and Dougie are ready to put on a show to charm even the most hardened of Hollywood agents!
