The Hippie Shakes
Live music from the 1960s and '70s
Based on a true story, The Hippie Shakes is a piece of gig theatre about Chickie’s struggle to balance her responsibilities as a mother with her desire for freedom.
All the while, her husband drags the family deeper into the illegal drug trade of the hippie movement. Steeped in and celebrating the music of the 1960s and ’70s, this play is about female empowerment and intergenerational cycles of abuse.
